THE WOMAN BEHIND THE WORK
She has spent much of her life moving between countries, disciplines and different ways of creating. Eventually, fiction became the form her worlds had been waiting for.
Mine was born and raised in Turkey. Growing up there also meant encountering politics not as something abstract, but as something lived. As a young woman, she took part in demonstrations.
She spent time studying and living abroad, and travelled between places, histories and ways of living.
She studied art and design, and photography became one of her ways of looking — including a period as a photography student at SMK in 2017.
Eventually, she moved to Denmark. Copenhagen became the place where another creative discipline took form.
She trained and worked as a chef in Copenhagen’s restaurant kitchens. Food taught her that ingredients, technique, quality and time are not decoration. They are the experience.
Later, she became a mother. It was part of the period in which the worlds she had long carried privately began increasingly moving toward fiction.
Writing had existed in her life long before the novel — including years of writing online in Turkey, where her words found readers of their own. When Rome Falls Again became her first published novel.
